Raised Planter Box
This planter box brings the dirt up to you. No trade secrets here, I made sure this box was tall enough to reach without bending over and deep enough for your indeterminate tomatoes. The design allows for drainage so that the roots don’t drown, which meant the wood supports below needed protection (see the pictures below). Water from the soil never makes contact with wood here and the metal is food grade, so this planter is sturdy, rot resistant, healthy, and has some pleasant corner element. I hope this inspires you to build a planter box like it, see below for a picture of the inside. I’m not trying to sell you a box exactly like this one, rather ideas for your own home and garden. But if you like what you see, I can make more just like it. I already did for the owner of this one, who asked for a second.

Add mesh wire at the bottom. I used left over metal from the siding to cover the pressure treated wood. No chemicals on these tomatoes.

Fill the bottom with 2-3 inches of rocks. Bigger rocks than I used would be better, like small river rock, because you'll notice in the next picture that some rocks fell through in the initial fill. But once everything settled it all locked in.

Tip: make sure you put the planter in its place BEFORE you fill it with soil. It becomes very heavy.

A few weeks later I was asked to build a second.
